For the 14th year in succession, Abdulrahman Kanoo International School (ARKIS) announced the winner of the Abdulrahman Kanoo Award (AKA). to encourage and facilitate the further education of our top graduates, the late Founder, Mr. Abdulrahman Jasim Kanoo saw the importance of continuing one’s education beyond the level of High School within Bahrain. The AKA scholarship is the only available scholarship from a Private or International School for its students and the pioneering award was commenced back in 2011.  

To date, the school has more than 13 young graduates who have benefited from this programme, all of whom are active in the Bahraini society. To date, more than US$1,000,000 has been spent on full-fledged university scholarships for more than thirteen graduates of the school. The selection of candidates is not limited to academic excellence but is carried out according to the criteria and values set by the late founder Mr. Abdulrahman Jassim Kanoo. Four great candidates have reached the final round and were personally interviewed by the ARKEDU Trustees: Jana Aref, Eyad Zouinikh, Zoya Nadim and Amal Al-Madhoob. 

On behalf of the ARKIS Principal, Ms. Kate Moskawa, the winner of the 2024 AKA scholarship is Ms. Amal Al- Madhoob. “Amal is an example of the values and skills that we instill in our graduating students – something that the late founder will be proud of, as he sees his legacy through these students. We look forward to welcoming Amal back after receiving her first university degree and working to make a big impact in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”

Amal plans to further her passion for international socio-economic development at the prestigious University of Exeter, and apply everything she learns to contribute to the Kingdom of Bahrain. About her feeling after being informed that she was the winner of the fourteenth scholarship, Amal noted ” it is a great honor to be the recipient of this year’s Award (AKA), and for me it is the fruit of years of hard work and perseverance, which makes me driven towards my goal of advancing my family’s dreams and being the object of pride for them in all forums. Venturing into the world of higher education is a great privilege and I will be eternally grateful for this selection before the Abdulrahman Kanoo Award committee. This would not have been possible without my family and the best teachers at this wonderful school, who helped me develop my personality and skills to become who I am.”
