At ARKIS, we are committed to fostering a culture of sustainability where students learn to care for the environment, conserve resources, and develop into responsible global citizens. Our mission is to inspire young learners to make choices today that will protect and improve the world of tomorrow.
We envision a school community that leads by example in promoting sustainable practices. Through education, action, and innovation, we aim to build a brighter, greener future that aligns with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Vision 2030, focusing on environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic balance.
At our Preschool, we believe that even our youngest learners can make a big difference for the planet. Our Ongoing Sustainability Plan (2025–2026) combines hands-on activities, creativity, and parent involvement to inspire children to care for the environment in fun and meaningful ways.
Our preschool garden is a place where children learn, play, and grow alongside nature. With guidance from special guests, students plant seeds, water the garden, and compost leftover food. They will experience the joy of growing fresh vegetables, while adding vibrant colors through flowers such as sunflowers and lavender. The herb and fragrance corner will give children the chance to explore the scents of mint, rosemary, and other plants. To encourage creativity, flowers will also be planted in painted cans and wooden pots brought from home. A peaceful stone pathway will provide a wellbeing space where children can relax, while educational labels and posters will help them identify plants and understand their role in the environment.
Recycling plays an important role in our sustainability journey, and children are encouraged to turn waste into something new and useful. Through activities such as crayon recycling, students will see how old materials can be transformed into fresh creations. They will also participate in a school-wide Recycle Day, creating imaginative projects from recyclable items. Recycling stations at the entrances of Nursery, KG1, and KG2 will help students connect their classroom learning with everyday habits. To bring families into the experience, we will also host an Eco-Friendly Show where parents and children design creative eco-hairstyles together, celebrating the importance of reducing waste in fun and inspiring ways.
Beyond the classroom, students will learn the value of reducing waste and protecting their surroundings. They will help design recycling bins from hard paper, sort materials such as paper, plastic, and glass, and involve parents in capturing these new habits at home. Teachers will contribute by decorating classroom boards with recycled materials, showing students how creativity and sustainability go hand in hand. The program also extends to community efforts, with children taking part in clean-up activities at school, in the garden, and even at the beach. These shared experiences help children build responsibility, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the world around them.
Our sustainability plan is not just about individual projects but about fostering lifelong habits. We integrate technology into learning by using interactive platforms such as EcoKids, which allow students to explore eco-games online while connecting digital lessons to real-world experiences. Day by day, children will be encouraged to reuse, recycle, and respect nature, both at school and at home. In this way, we are helping them understand that caring for the planet is a joyful and meaningful part of everyday life.
